In this section, you will have access to tools to help you identify processes and policies within your institutions and professional organizations and societies. Many of you belong to organizations with a mission that includes addressing pain management. In other cases, you’ll need to work to make the case for why pain is important to your professional peers. As a healthcare professional, you can advocate for pain management on a professional level through administrators of healthcare institutions such as hospitals, clinics, and HMOs (especially those with specialized pain centers or community pain control outreach programs); local or regional chapters of the professional or specialty organizations that granted your board certification or professional credentials, or healthcare systems (including hospitals, clinics, and HMOs) that you interact with on a regular basis.
